Robinson Aerial Surveys, Inc. (RAS) prepared topographic base mapping for the MTA/NYCTA
Second Avenue Subway Project.  This project is a major $16 Billion subway project running
eight miles beneath Second Avenue in Manhattan from the financial district to 125th Street.
The DMJM+HARRIS / ARUP Joint Venture sub-contracted the Aerial Mapping assignment to
Robinson Aerial Surveys, Inc.

The Second Avenue Subway will reduce overcrowding and delays on the Lexington Avenue
line, improving travel for both city and suburban commuters and improving access to mass
transit for residents of the East Side of Manhattan.  The project began in January 2002.  The
Metropolitan Transportation Authority and New York City Transit Authority have initiated the
preliminary design for the full length of the project.

RAS was responsible for obtaining low-altitude mapping photography (LAMP) at 1”=100’ scale
to produce topographic mapping at 1”=20’ scale with one-foot contour intervals in MicroStation
format.  The photogrammetric base mapping was produced for the entire eight-mile project
corridor centering on Second Avenue.
